Air-Operated Double Diagphragm Pumps

Air-Operated Double-Diaphragm (AODD) pumps are a type of reciprocating, positive-displacement pump. These pumps work by displacing fluid from one of their two liquid chambers with each stroke.

The brilliance of the AODD pump design lies in its simplicity. There are only a few dynamic parts that come into contact with the liquid, the two diaphragms connected by a common shaft, and the inlet and outlet valve balls. The diaphragms act as a barrier between the compressed air supply and the liquid, removing mechanical stress from the operation and prolonging diaphragm life. The opening and closing of the valve balls on the valve seats control the flow of liquid. This straightforward design and operation make it easy for operators to find the correct pressures and flows to optimise performance.
